About Bob Patterson
Bob Patterson Alaska master artist has been awarded in 1997 by Artist Magazine (ARTIST OF THE YEAR) for his totemic art legend series. Bob is a self taught artist in many media from oils to charcoal.
Bob has an Alaskan name (WHITE BEAR) given to him by his Native American friends. Owning a major gallery in downtown Anchorage, Alaska he created more than 1000 originals and has written 2 books on the ways of ancient people and their legends. His latest Book called White Raven is a collection of his totemic artwork, symbolic realism, and stories told to him by his friends. This book compares the bible and science to Native people of old dating back thousands of years.
Bob has spent many years traveling in Alaska and the western hemisphere during his 40 career years of construction management. This allowed him to understand nature in many places. Art critics have commented on his depth of color an dimension using his ability to capture perspective on canvas. The details in his paintings are very precise giving his art a photografic concept. Some of his greatest work is based on intensive study of the subject or animal. Bob doesn't use his photography to set the painting format but only to capture shapes and minor details like in color.
This artist owes everything to his grandmother who gave him a pencil and paper in church to occupy his time when he was 2 years old. His Family always encourage him to draw and ask question when he didn't understand. During the war years his grandparents took him on long rides thru the country side. This was only possible as his grandfather worked for the school district and had unlimited gasoline.
Bob closed his art gallery in Alaska and moved to La Conner Washington in 2004 where he has a studio to create more artwork and write more books. One of the books is called Polar Bears playing with his art depicting the motion of bears playing golf. True Humor
